original design: furze hat

  • Inspired by a trip to the Republic of Ireland, this pattern was named after ulex europaeus (commonly known as gorse, furze, whin, or aiteann gallda). The shrub is native to the British Isles and Western Europe, where it can be seen sweeping the roadsides in pools of bright yellow while in bloom.

  • Available in small and medium sizes to fit head circumferences: 44.5-56cm (17.5-22”) or 50.75-62.25cm (20-24.5”)

  • This hat can be knit using any fingering weight yarn! A big thanks to the Fibre Co. for providing yarn support for the samples shown in the pattern. Samples shown in Canopy Fingering (183m/200 yds per 50g skein) in Mango.
