Hello! I’m Darren

I’m a healthcare scientist by training and creative at heart, working at the intersection of design and research.

With my background in academia, I bring a unique perspective to problem-solving for human challenges in the world of service design.

the research journey

I have over 8 years of clinical research experience.
I’ve worked closely with people - patients - to study healthcare for those living with complex conditions.

From grant-writing and ethics board applications, to participant recruitment and manuscript publication, I am deeply familiar with every gruelling phase of the academic research process.

I love chatting about my research - shoot me a message!

the design path

Working in service design, I am bridging the gap between research and human-centred design. I’m able to align key skills from academia - synthesizing information, oral communication, and writing, with design-thinking and strategy to create meaningful impact.

At Bridgeable, I’ve worked closely with world-leading healthcare organizations to develop ways to improve healthcare services across the globe.

the things along the way

I spend a lot of my free time rock climbing and knitting, but my list of activities and creative outlets is long and constantly growing.

I love trying new things and developing skills in different spaces. I’m more or less on a mission to pick up every hobby that enters my orbit. Most recently, I’ve started up pottery and woodworking.
